Today, Microsoft has announced their new Surface Pro 3 tablet. Microsoft says it has the ability to replace your laptop. In fact Microsoft says, “Surface Pro 3 is a tablet and a laptop.” The new Surface Pro 3 includes a full HD 12” display, numerous processor options from the 4th-generation Intel© Core™ lineup, and up to 8GB of RAM. Microsoft also claims that it’s thinner then the 11-inch MacBook Air and is lighter then it’s predecessor. The new Surface Pen has 256 points of pressure sensitivity to allow what Microsoft says to be, “a more natural writing experience.”
Apple released the OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 update yesterday. The big thing this update brings is improved 4K support on the Mac Pro (Late 2013) and MacBook Pro with 15-inch Retina Display (Late 2013). The update also brings iTunes 11.2, which improves podcast support and makes it more noticeable as to which podcasts you haven’t listened to yet in the Unplayed tab. Apple has also improved the Feeds tab in iTunes 11.2 making it easier to find podcasts to download and stream. iTunes 11.2 also brings many security enhancements. OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 brings various security improvements as well.
Apple has reportedly acquired Beats Electronics for $3.2 billion. This is a crazy amount of money that Apple might be throwing around, in fact it’s the largest acquisition Apple may have ever made. Nothing has been confirmed, but a video featuring Dr. Dre and actor Tyrese Gibson seemingly confirms the reports. re/code is reporting that the deal might be finalized by next week.
